Leather

de Sede grew up with leather. Our factory originated from a former saddlery – and even today we are proud of our leather expertise, which has been passed down through generations. Ernst Lüthy, the founder of de Sede, was particularly committed to allowing leather to unfold its natural beauty. With the development of the purely aniline-dyed DS Original leather, he had already succeeded in meeting his high standards for upholstery leather in 1964.

Characteristics Strong, firm, and durable. This saddle leather is unique in its unique grain and its very fine pattern of pores, grain, and surface structure. ARTISANO is only available on select models and, due to its properties, is ideal for compact seat or backrest sections, as well as smooth surfaces and side panels.

Characteristics Full-grain, unique in its pattern of pores, grains, and surface structure – strong, firm, durable, shape- and color-stable, yet soft and supple. It is characterized by its durability and high value retention. Its open porosity makes it particularly breathable and temperature-regulating.

Characteristics Colors can make a piece of furniture look completely different and thus significantly influence the mood of a room. With Coloral, de Sede offers the option of choosing from over 2,000 NCS/RAL colors, fulfilling almost any color wish – from fashionable trend colors to new nuances of classic tones to more unusual preferences. The minimum order quantity is 2 leather hides.

Characteristics This velvety leather is known for its soft, velvety feel. The matte finish changes depending on the grain direction, resulting in a beautiful and unique appearance. The leather is natural and breathable. Cashmere is only available in certain models.

Characteristics Undoubtedly the most authentic way to own leather with all the positive qualities of a natural material – exceptionally soft and supple, with a silky feel. Its original character is emphasized by possible slight variations in color intensity. Naturale is subject to visible aging, developing a distinct patina over the years – a surface with history and personality.

Characteristics Preserved naturalness with an incomparably striking, even rustic appeal creates a truly unique eye-catcher – without equal in terms of quality. A cover with NECK requires entire sections of leather for each back, side, and seat section. The joining process creates so-called optical fold seams: an art of de Sede craftsmen and women that also requires exceptional strength.

Characteristics Carefully crafted to preserve its natural appearance, with characteristic wrinkles, grain, and pore patterns. Dyed throughout after tanning, it has a special finish to preserve its natural radiance while providing enhanced protection. It undergoes a natural aging process, giving it a charming patina.

Characteristics Uniqueness thanks to the unadulterated structure and silky sheen of the natural hide – a leather that couldn't be more authentic and high-quality. Its exceptionally fine and intense feel creates a unique, authentic patina as it ages.

Attention to detail

For de Sede, perfection is our motivation, our aspiration, and our way of preserving value. It's the meticulous attention to detail we pay to even the smallest detail. Our commitment to quality, which never seeks a good solution, but always the best. Our attention to detail is particularly evident in our sewing department. We use techniques and processes rarely used today. Artful, precise joining and decorative seams demonstrate the utmost care.

At de Sede, great importance has always been attached to stitching techniques. As early as 1967, our factory invented the strap seam for the DS-31 model, the saddler's seam for the DS-61, and the elaborate thread tacking for the DS-51. Further innovations were the zigzag seams with surgical thread, a sewing technique for extremely thick leather, as well as the simple triple seam and triple zigzag seam – another milestone in sewing technology.

    Characteristics RE-WOOL is made from 45% recycled wool, giving it its sustainable and environmentally friendly characteristics. The fabric is reminiscent of colorful stitching on a darker fabric and boasts exceptional color depth. From a distance, the textile appears to be a smooth, soft surface, but up close, it reveals a vibrant, meticulously nuanced interplay of light and dark color variations.

    Characteristics The fabric is created by incorporating an additional thread into a knitted fabric, creating small loops on the surface. In a subsequent process, these loops are cut open, creating the velvety surface. The fine base fabric gives the fabric a light drape.     For our outdoor collection, we use metals that are cathodic dip-coated to meet the special outdoor conditions.

    Surfaces

    Fine, sophisticated materials such as marble, granite, quartz, wood, or glass can be processed into a variety of surfaces and customized to individual needs. Produced and finished using state-of-the-art technology and with the highest craftsmanship, they are an elegant addition to the de Sede material portfolio.
