DS-707
For Nuremberg's Hotel Karl August, the choice fell on the Brutalist-influenced DS-707 sculptures. Their flowing design, organic-looking transitions, and the soft shape of the leather create an exciting atmosphere. What the British-Canadian designer Philippe Malouin called "folding foam" during the creative process, Schmelzer defined as the momentum of uniqueness.
But that wasn't the only convincing feature: "The material texture is exactly what I had dreamed of – soft, supple, warm, and inviting," says Managing Director Omar Schmelzer.
The project's perfect completion is due in no small part to the master craftsmen at the Klingnau factory. To delight Omar Schmelzer with his eagerly awaited DS-707 on the scheduled opening date, each individual sculpture was brought to life within a few weeks with unmistakable attention to detail and expertly practiced needle and thread.
