About Us
The highest craftsmanship, the strictest quality standards, maximum attention to detail and the personal commitment of all employees have made de Sede famous and point the way to the future.
For the love of leather
We love craftsmanship and ensure that every piece of furniture meets the strictest quality standards. Our specialists ensure that only the highest quality leather is used. When it comes to cutting leather, we have dedicated experts who, with a trained eye, detect every irregularity in the leather and incorporate it so that it is not visible in the finished piece. Our sophisticated upholstery technology using modern materials also requires a high degree of knowledge and experience, which flows into every piece of de Sede furniture. Our upholsterers are masters of their craft. The creation is rounded off by precise seams, some of which are applied entirely by hand, which make each piece unique.
Our journey through time
From the very beginning, de Sede has stood for the highest quality, ergonomics, and design. Over the years, our passion for handcrafted seating has produced numerous icons and innovations. See for yourself!

In the beginning there was leather
In Klingnau, Aargau, master saddler Ernst Lüthy produces tailor-made leather furniture of the highest quality – entirely by hand and with a great passion for the finest leather.

It's really getting started
The family business was transformed into a stock corporation, and it was time for a new name. The Latin name says it all: de Sede literally means "from sitting." A clear statement of purpose. From this point on, the company developed rapidly; top designers of international stature were brought on board for creation, production was expanded, and an international distribution network was established.

Perfectly threaded
The love of craftsmanship is reflected in the strap seams of the DS-31, which are artfully applied by hand and with the utmost care to the upholstery edges and armrests.

Call from Hollywood
Filming for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" began in Switzerland. One of the main locations was the futuristic revolving restaurant on the Schilthorn. It was there that de Sede made his first grand worldwide film appearance with the DS-101.

Patchwork in perfection
Since its launch in 1969, the DS-80 daybed has established itself as a timeless classic by de Sede, which introduced the patchwork finish.

The endless queue for seats
Striking, iconic, legendary: In 1974, the collaborative approach of a young Swiss design collective gave rise to the idea of a modular endless sofa – a classic of our manufactory and unmatched in ergonomics, design, and quality.

Sitting on a new level
50 years ago, the Swiss designer Ubald Klug developed a piece of seating that literally took seating culture to a new level – a homage to the Swiss landscape that invites all possible variations of sitting.

This is unbelievable
Thick, thicker, NECK leather: When the revolutionary DS-47 was presented at the IMM in Cologne in 1976, the booth had to be closed repeatedly: How was it possible to work with the 5 mm thick bull leather? It's still an example of de Sede's craftsmanship today.

A classic with a punch
The de Sede boxing glove DS-2878, manufactured in 7:1 scale, has been bringing the popular sport of boxing into your home since 1978.

Futuristic collector's item
At the end of the 1980s, Santiago Calatrava created a lounger that caused a sensation with its futuristic aura − and is still a sought-after collector's item today: the DS-150, affectionately known as the "ironing board."

Seating island redefined
The softly padded shell with the extremely comfortable cushions of this model series creates an island in the living room and invites you to relax and dream, whether used as a sofa, armchair, or stool. A beautiful detail: the crossed leather cords.

Everything moves
From an open sofa to an elegant chaise longue with just one hand movement: the DS-164's backrest can be stylishly rotated 360°. A classic with intelligent functionality that still enjoys great popularity today.

Stylish Boomerang
The puristic shape of the Boomerang, with its bold yet elegant lines, inspired the design of the DS-60. The sleek, floating form blends harmoniously into any room, adding a certain something.

Plain and simply functional
The special feature of the DS-87 Donna is its simple elegance combined with its ingenious mechanism: it allows for alternating between a low backrest and a short seat, or a high backrest and a deep seat. Simply put: a masterpiece of our manufacture.

A classic for today
A contemporary sculpture with the charisma of a classic, that's the DS-707. Available in armchairs, classic sofas, and spacious landscapes, its meandering form lends a powerful effect to rooms.

The limits of leather
The DS-808 Onda is a wave-like sculpture that experiments with the limits of leather. It is created by placing the leather, like a throw, over a curved structure: primal, authentic, a homage to classic de Sede designs, yet refreshingly different.

Let's go outside
de Sede is taking a big step – outdoors! The legendary icons of Swiss craftsmanship and new products like the DS-888 COLLINA are now also available in weatherproof versions for outdoor use – thanks to first-class materials and masterful craftsmanship in the construction, fabric, and upholstery.

60 years of de Sede
Since 1965, the Swiss furniture brand has shaped the world of interior design with its iconic designs. New sculptures like the DS-909 FLOW continue this aesthetic, combining it with modern dynamism.
Sustainability

Living sustainability
We understand sustainability as the preservation of our homeland, our environment and our traditional crafts, as well as respecting and protecting our nature in the long term.
We strive to use natural materials to ensure that the final product is a durable and long-lasting piece of furniture!

Shaping the future
Building on the mindset of avoiding short-term trends and instead producing products that do not lose their design understanding or quality, these are essential cornerstones in meeting the requirement that de Sede sculptures will remain what they were yesterday – sustainably produced sculptures.

Love home
Because nature and home are central aspects for us, our upholstered furniture is manufactured exclusively “Made in Switzerland”.
We are aware of our ecological responsibility and strive to shape our current homeland in a future-oriented way for future generations. Therefore, short transport routes, sustainable developments, and the consistent longevity of our products and collaborations are important to us.

Respect the environment
To ensure our continued survival of the only planet we have, conscious social and ecological action and ongoing responsibility are essential for long-term sustainability. Only the careful selection of outer materials and other components for the production of a piece of furniture allows us to meet our sustainability standards. Customers have the opportunity to customize their furniture, dressing it up – however they see fit. For this reason, the de Sede manufactory produces exclusively to order, enabling constant cost-effective planning.

Experience leather
For us, leather is the most sensual natural product; our customers can feel its soft surface, experience the fine leather grain and feel homely and comfortable.
In order to ensure this, de Sede attaches great importance to the appropriate husbandry of the animals even before they are processed into leather.

Feel leather
The leather used to finish our seating is a byproduct of European cattle farming for food production. During leather production, the tanners are bound by the highest environmental standards. Furthermore, de Sede is committed to always being open to other materials and alternatives in order to remain a forward-looking company.

Appreciate partners
Relationships with our partners should be fair and long-lasting for both sides. Only consistent collaboration with our partners guarantees that a de Sede sculpture can be brought to life. Therefore, for de Sede, carefully selected materials form the basis of long-lasting sculptures and are an essential component of timeless design.
With regard to design and the environment, we ensure that the suitable products meet our quality criteria when developing new sculptures and when continuing new collaborations and that the partners are committed to conscious ecological efficiency.

Offer variety
Leather is the world of de Sede – but we can do much more!
In addition to our exclusive leather qualities, we offer other high-quality materials for customizing your furniture. Environmental compatibility and sustainability also play a constant role in the selection of these components.

Promote employees
Following the principle that employees are what make a company what it is, we maintain high safety and occupational health standards. This includes the use and handling of materials that are neither harmful to the environment nor to health.
We value the efficiency of resources and workflows and encourage our employees to view this as a social responsibility for future generations. Talented and motivated employees have long-term prospects within the company and are constantly encouraged to improve every day.

Preserving craftsmanship
Always offering the finest, most unique, and best upholstery craftsmanship – that is de Sede's goal. Whether producing sculptures of unmistakable character and timeless validity or passing on the knowledge of a traditional craft, the special handling of leather as a sustainable natural product is a commitment.

Experience sculptures
Since our founding in 1965, we have continuously created designs that are not only timelessly beautiful, but also designed to last for generations. This commitment to quality is at the heart of our philosophy of combining precise craftsmanship with natural materials. As a company steeped in tradition, we strive for continuous improvement.
